Augustus' Gift Shop in the Caretaker's Cottage

     Van Cortlandt House features a Museum Shop located in the former Caretaker's Cottage. The Shop is open during regular Museum Hours and at other times by chance.  Although we are unable to fulfill mail orders, if you have a special request, please call Van Cortlandt House, at 718-543-3344, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.  The Museum Shop is stocked with an inviting selection of merchandise inspired by the collections found within Van Cortlandt House. Visitors may select a souvenir of their visit from a wide range of options.  

Chinese Export blue & white porcelain . . .  candlesticks, serving platters, cache pots, pitchers, bowls. 

Delft from Holland . . .  tiles, miniature animals, wall plaques, coffee mugs,  & pitchers.

Stationery items . . . Van Cortlandt House note paper, color note cards with George Harvey's 1846 oil-on-canvas landscape  of  Van Cortlandt House in the Snow, and a new note card featuring a detail from child's priksled inscribed Hoop op Vreede - Hope for Peace.  NEW POSTCARDS TOO!

Hostess Gifts and household helpers . . .  linen tea towels, hand-dipped taper candles, verbena and lavender scented soaps, hand-crafted tin wall pockets, Caspari paper goods.

Old-Fashioned novelties . . .  wooden needle cases and thimbles, hot sticks, peggies, & Liggett's shampoo soap.

Colonial-era toys and games . . .  Jacob's ladders, table top tenpins, marbles, jacks, jump ropes, corn husk dolls, finger tops, tea sets, & character dolls from Colonial Williamsburg in two sizes.

 

The shop also features a selection of books on Colonial subjects, herbs and herb gardening, and the writings of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and others.
